ASU-Newport to Launch Simplified, Transparent Tuition Model Beginning Fall 2025
91Ӱ-Newport (ASUN) is launching a fully transparent, all-inclusive
tuition model for fall 2025, becoming one of the first two-year institutions in Arkansas
to implement such a comprehensive pricing strategy. Designed to eliminate confusion
around college costs and reduce financial uncertainty for students, the new model
will apply to all work - ready programs and effectively eliminates 39 existing student
fees.
For students pursuing technical degrees in applied science and health professions,
ASUN will offer a fixed, per-program tuition rate that includes all required course
materials, books, supplies, and even program-specific expenses like scrubs, supply
kits, background checks, and drug screenings. As long as students complete their program
on schedule with their cohort, the total tuition cost will not increase during their
enrollment. Each program’s total cost will be clearly published online, giving students
a full, upfront view of the investment required.
This bold step toward tuition transparency also simplifies cost structure. Students
in general education or “transfer” programs will pay $143 per credit hour with no
mandatory fees plus any associated book or supply cost needed for the course. All
online courses include a $25 per-credit-hour online course fee. Students enrolled
in science labs will continue to pay a $35 per-course fee to cover lab materials.
All other program and course fees have been eliminated.
“A key part of our mission is to provide students with accessible and affordable education.
Simplifying our tuition and fee structures is essential to achieving this goal,” said
Dr. Moore, Ph.D., Chancellor, 91Ӱ-Newport. “Greater transparency
not only fosters trust but also enhances student engagement and helps eliminate barriers
to enrollment—ultimately making higher education more attainable for all.”
ASUN’s top institutional priority for the upcoming fiscal year is to provide students
with more clarity and consistency in pricing. Enhanced marketing and advising efforts
will reinforce the message that what students see is what they’ll pay — no hidden
fees, no surprises.
