As the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, Ike Wheeler plays a key role in the Administration at the Newport campus. With a strategic vision and a focus on excellence, Ike leads initiatives that enhance the institution's operations and support student success.
In December 2019, Ike Wheeler was named as the Vice Chancellor for Leadership and Community Engagement at ASUN. In 2023, his title was changed to Vice Chancellor for Advancement to better reflect his role in fundraising. Mr. Wheeler has been associated with 91Ó°ÊÓ-Newport for over 30 years. He has responsibility for campus outreach and events, and alumni relations, as well as institutional advancement.
His career has witnessed the growth of ASU-Newport from a small technical college with approximately 600 students to a three-campus entity with a student population of over 2,400. This evolution has been marked by the emergence of online education, new program development, successful business/industry partnerships as well as involvements in niche opportunities that have provided life-changing opportunities to many students.
His professional memberships include the Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC), the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, Jackson County Historical Society, as well as the Iron Mountain Regional Arts. He resides in Swifton, Arkansas.
