Stacy Mooneyhan

Associate Professor of Early Childhood Development

Mrs. Stacy Mooneyhan is an Associate Professor of Education at 91Ó°ÊÓ-Newport (ASUN) specializing in teacher education as well as early childhood education. Mrs. Mooneyhan has been the recipient of the League for Innovation Excellence Award, the NISOD Excellence Award and the AATYC Faculty of the Year Award.  Mrs. Mooneyhan has previously served as ASUN’s assessment coordinator and currently serves as teacher education coordinator. The position she values most is her faculty position. Mrs. Mooneyhan views teaching as an opportunity to touch the future. She believes teachers provide a great benefit to society and have the prospect of positively influencing others each day that they are in the classroom. She receives considerable satisfaction from the work that she does. She appreciates the daily contact, conversations and exchanges that are necessary to motivate students. She perceives the process of teaching as a significant reward in itself. Teaching, specifically at the college level, is a dream job for Mrs. Mooneyhan. She loves what she does and cherishes being able to inspire future teachers. Building connections between teacher and student as well as student to student is utmost important to her. Mrs. Mooneyhan believes that when a classroom or course provides a sense of community, students will be more engaged in the learning process and develop a sense of ownership regarding learning. Mrs. Mooneyhan prioritizes creating these connections. She utilizes available advances in technology to achieve a sense of connection in the classroom both face-to-face and virtually.  Mrs. Mooneyhan desires that all students be successful. It is her stance that each student and each student’s work deserve her respect, kind attention, informed skill, and critical evaluation.
